When people think about or even visit Miami, Florida, they generally begin and end with the 30 glitzy square blocks that comprise South Beach, which technically isn't even in Miami.
But the real Miami is Calle Ocho, a wild and vulgar annual street festival for and by the city's Hispanic population, jammed with hundreds of thousands of people from every country to the south.
Whatever you do, don't look at my Flickr slideshow of Calle Ocho, or all your Miami fantasies will lie at your feet in jagged, shattered pieces. But here are a few previews of what you could expect:
