Cool Your Brain

I'm not one for spiritual remedies. To a natural skeptic and secular materialist, the benefits of "mastering your personal energy flows" have always sounded like magical hokum to me.

But by the standards of pseudo-spiritual activities, meditation has a proven track record of benefits for mental and physical health. And why shouldn't it? The healthiest people are those who are best able to heal the micro-injuries that come from daily living, and why wouldn't slowing the mind and relaxing the body boost our innate immune and healing systems?

Zen Master Rama once said, "Meditation is easy, unless you live in the world, in which case it's hard." But just because a drug-abusing cult leader said it doesn't make it false. Meditation is hard, especially for this tired nation so depraved. But we do have tools to make it easier, without having to move to Westchester to slavishly serve a manipulative guru like Zen Master Rama.

For the past year or so, I've been rockin' Paul Scheele's 10-Minute Supercharger, which lives up to its title. In this short recording, Scheele guides you deep into a trance with his soft baritone and reassuring whispers, while a gentle rain sets a white noise floor. The recording is meant to be consumed during the day, as Scheele brings you back up from the trance with new mental and physical energy.

And I'll be damned if it doesn't work, and work better the more you listen and follow instructions. And it's not the least bit fruity; the recording has been crafted so that even the most hardened reality-based thinker can benefit. Seamus says check it out.
