The cultural legacy of Long Duk Dong: Oh sexy giiiiirrrrrrlfriennnnd. C'mon, even when you were 10 years old, you knew it was wrong -- mocking the pan-Asian "other" for laffs.

Slate on Hillary comparing herself to Rocky: Nobody told her that (1) Rocky starts as the underdog, and (2) Rocky goes the distance but loses by split decision. But who cares? Obama's a shitty bowler!

Everything you wanted to know about federal wiretaps. When I was a kid, the FBI tapped our phone due to my parents' organizing against American-sponsored wars in Central America. I still pity the Federales who had to do the listening; I probably spent more time on the phone jabbering with my nerdy friends about baseball stats, than my folks did planning marches. Imagine bored FBI agents scribbling down arguments over Mike Greenwell's slugging percentage vs. Vince Coleman's total bases as if it were some code to BURY THE GUNS UNDER THE GARDEN.

Jenny "Singled Out" McCarthy has put away her boobs to slog down the dead end road of linking autism to vaccinations. This put her in the position of debating science with scientists on Larry King last night.
Jennie McCarthy, former Playboy model, holding up list of 36 recommended childhood vaccinations: "Do we really need all of these? I mean honestly. Let's look at this."
Dr. Harvey Karp, American Association of Pediatrics: "Which disease do you want your child to get?"

Long Duk Dong. I heard him complaining on NPR about his role. Look, it was so over the top - people knew it was wrong/not real.
Hillary. The woman started on third and could not get to home. Almsot GWBush-esque. But he made it. Years ago - she was at 45%...and could not get to 50%+. Too bad. Smart, but just not likable enough. Nothing to do with being a woman. It's called being Hillary Clinton and having an alternative.

I like Jenny McCarthy's comments "nobody here is anti-vaccine, but do we really need all these" "parents' anecdotal evidence is scientific evidence".
There was an interesting op-ed in the NYT the other day about this topic:

And yet I listed YOU as a reference on my national security application some years back. Definitely not the smartest move on my part. Neither is looking at houses in your area code -- my sticker shock is making my hair stand on end like the Donger's. Feh.
