Chuck Zink, RIP
Not too focus too much on death in this New Year, but I must note the passing of Chuck Zink, one of South Florida's great television personalities.
Kids, there was a time before you were born, back before Fox, UPN, the WB, PAX, and hundreds of cable channels when every community had local television programs. And they weren't just the murder-sports-weather they call the "evening news," but shows for kids, shows for moms, shows for everyone. And local TV channels showed movies, often with a host who would introduce the flick and check in before every commercial break just to say hi.
It was fucking great.
I'm too young to have ever seen Chuck Zink's kiddie show, but he was one of those ever-present personalities who put a friendly face on an independent local TV channel, and who ended every broadcast by wishing us all "peace, love, and happiness."
There aren't too many left like Chuck. Godspeed.
